Trekking Permits

TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) Card

From 1st April 2010, all trekkers are legally required to obtain a TIMS card before they enter any trekking route or region in Nepal. The information you provide gives the relevant Nepali authorities a record of your personal details, trekking area, trekking route, trekking agency, duration, etc. in case of emergency, and also helps them control illegal trekking operations. Trekkers are required to keep a TIMS card with them throughout their trek along with a copy of their passport in case they are needed for verification. Your TIMS card has to be shown at national park check posts, conservation area check posts and police check posts when requested.
TIMS cards are non-transferable and valid only for single entry into an area.

TIMS Card is not required for the following:

Expedition members who have the necessary permits to climb mountains.
Visitors in controlled areas permitted by the Department of Immigration.
Foreign guests invited by the Government of Nepal Authorities from different diplomatic missions in the country, who are holding official letter/s and traveling at their own risk.
Visitors on certain missions recommended by the concerned department of the Government.

Conservation Areas and National Park Permit Fees

Conservation Area or National Park (per person entry for Foreign Nationals)

Annapurna Conservation Area = 2,000
Sagarmatha National park = 3,390
Langtang National Park = 3,390
Makalu-Barun National Park = 3,000
Manaslu Conservation Area = 2,000
Kanchenjunga Conservation Area = 2,000
Gaurishankar Conservation Area = 2,000
Shivapuri National Park = 565

Cost of Special Trekking Permits (STP) – Restricted areas which have been opened for Group Trekking

Special trekking permits are required to visit designated areas of Nepal and are issued by the Department of Immigration. These designated areas are open only for group trekkers. And a trekking permit will not be issued to individual trekkers for such areas. Permits should only be acquired through registered trekking agencies in Nepal. Resident diplomats are exempt from this type of permit.

4	Gorkha	Manaslu Region Chhekampar & Chunchet VDC	From September to November per week per person US$ 70 and After 7 days per day per person US$ 10.and From December to August per week per person US$ 50 and After 7 days per day per person US$ 7 /Or equivalent convertible foreign currency. From September to November per person US$ 35 for 8 days and From December to August per person US$ 25 for first 8 days Or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
5	Dolakha	Gauri Shankar & Lamabagar	Per week per person US$ 10 Or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
6	Humla	Simikot & Yari Areas of Limi and Muchu Village Areas way to Tibet via Darma Village	Per week per person US$ 10 Or equivalent convertible foreign currency. For the first 7 days per person US$ 50 and After 7 days per day per person US$ 7 Or equivalent convertible foreign currency. For the first 7 days per person US$ 50 and After 7 days per day per person US$ 7 Or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
7	Rasuwa	Thuman and Timure	Per week per person US$ 10, Or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
8	Sankhuwasabha	Makalu Region	For the first 4 weeks per week per person US$ 10 and After 4 weeks per week per person US$ 20, Or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
9	Solukhumbu	Everest Region	For the first 4 weeks per week per person US$ 10 and After 4 weeks per week per person US$ 20, Or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
10	Manang	Narphu, Tilche, Thochhe	From September to November per week per person US$ 90 and December to August per week per person US$ 75 Or equivalent convertible foreign Currency.
11	Mugu	Dolpu, Pulu and Bhangri	For the first 7 days per person US $90 and After 7 days per day per person Us$15 Or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
12	Bajhang	Kanda, Saipal, Dhuli	For the first 7 days per person US $90 and After 7 days per day per person Us$15 Or equivalent convertible foreign currency.
